Campervan furniture
Good campervan furniture is the difference between a van you tolerate and a van you love being in.
We know this from experience. Our first personal camper had off-the-shelf flat-pack furniture and it taught us everything we needed to design something better. Storage you couldn’t reach with the bed down. Fixtures that felt flimsy after a few trips. Space wasted in places where, with a little more thought, it didn’t need to be.
When you are sharing a small space on the road – with family, friends, a dog, two weeks of kit – the furniture has to work hard. It has to be a pleasure to use, easy to navigate in the dark, and solid enough to last years of real use. And it needs to please your eye too, whatever your style. You are out there to relax. The van should feel like somewhere you want to be.
That is why we designed our own.
The Coachworks furniture range
Our furniture is built in house, fully customisable, and designed around how people actually use their vans. We offer a base design for each unit type, then adapt it to fit your vehicle, your layout and the way you travel.
Full cupboard sets
Available for both short and long wheelbase vehicles, these run the full length of one side of the van and can incorporate a hob, sink and fridge with under-cupboard storage, and full-height wardrobe storage in the rear. Sliding doors make access far easier - including when the bed is down, which is where so many standard layouts fall short.
Compact cupboard units
For vans where space needs to flex, we offer half-height units that allow for a full-width bed when down, and half-width units that keep the full rear of the van free for loading. Both can be tailored around your cooking, storage and sleeping priorities.
Boot storage and bed extension systems
The boot space is often the most underused area of a campervan. Our bed extension and bootspace boards make it genuinely useful - with options for a camping toilet, a rear picnic table, sliding storage drawers, and vehicle jack and tow bar storage. Various configurations can also create a secondary seating and eating area when you are parked up.
Designed for real trips, not just photographs
We have been on enough camping trips to know the details that matter. Easy access to everything even when the van is fully loaded. Enough light in the right places (and fully dimmable and configurable so you’re not blinded by spotlights when searching for a midnight snack!). A layout that still makes sense after a long drive and an even longer day. Furniture that works alongside your electrics, your off-grid power system and your sleeping arrangements rather than fighting against them.
As off-grid travel has grown – and lithium battery systems have made longer, more independent trips genuinely practical – the way a van interior needs to be planned has changed. The furniture has to accommodate more, and accommodate it better. That is something we think about from the start of every build, not as an afterthought.
