About
Classic car restoration and campervan conversions for people who care about the details as much as we do
Our team may be small, but our knowledge and experience run deep. From one-off supercars to much-loved classics rich with personal history, respect for heritage and expert knowledge inform everything he does.
Luke has decades of experience in his two closely linked passions of restoring classic cars and converting campervans.
Both demand craftsmanship and obsessive attention to design and detail. We bring that mindset to every project we take on.
Our team may be small, but our knowledge and experience run deep. Founder and Director Luke Martin restored his first Morris Minor at the age of eight and went on to spend more than 20 years as Head Panel Beater at Classic Motor Cars Ltd. Here he led the bodywork side of the most ambitious restoration projects of recent years, including two winners of Restoration of the Year at Octane’s International Historic Motoring Awards (for the Lindner Nocker Jaguar E-type in 2011 and the Pininfarina Jaguar XK120 in 2017).
Other highlights of Luke’s career have been restoring The Bulldog, Aston Martin’s one-off prototype, the Ian Callum Jaguar MKII, a rare Type 55 Bugatti and a unique 1930s Squire. From one-off supercars to much-loved classics rich with personal history, respect for heritage and expert knowledge informs everything he does.
Campervan conversions grew from his own family life. When travelling with a young child, we wanted the freedom of the open road, without compromising on beauty, comfort or quality. What began as personal projects for Luke evolved into refined designs and products we knew others would value, so in 2018, we set up Coachworks Conversions Ltd, with our own furniture range and conversion packages to bring calm, intuitive design and lasting quality to life on the road.
Campervan conversions grew from Luke and Beth's family life
When travelling with a young child, they wanted the freedom of the open road without compromising on beauty, comfort, or quality.
What began as personal projects evolved into refined designs and products they knew others would value, so in 2018 they set up Coachworks Conversions Limited, with their own furniture range and conversion packages to bring calm, considered design and lasting quality to life on the road.
As we begin 2026, we're bringing together Luke's classic car experience with Coachworks Conversions to form Luke Martin Coachworks Limited.
Whether we’re restoring a classic car or crafting a campervan, our aim is the same: to create vehicles that feel special to own, are a joy to use, and are built around the people who love them.
Some of Luke’s most significant projects
1993, aged 8
Luke’s dad bought home a Morris minor 1000, helping him learn to weld and make panels.
Quality and originality was always on my mind from the start.
2004 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
Began working at Classic Motor Cars Ltd (CMC) in Bridgnorth, starting as an apprentice panel beater, with first full panel work job being an Austin 7 Pearl. Over the coming years, Luke would work his way up to be CMC’s Head Panel Beater, leading the body workshop for this prestigious company.
2006 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
First major project: Jaguar E-type, chassis number 24. Rebuilt the very tired bodywork.
Being such an early car, it was important to retain as much of the original metalwork as possible.
2009 - 2010 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
Supported the restoration of the famous Lindner Knocker racing Jaguar E-type, alongside world-renowned panel beater Pete Southan, learning how to work with aluminium. Over ten thousand hours were spent restoring every scrap of the original mangled shell.
The work was truly groundbreaking, going on to win Octane’s International Historic Motoring Award’s Restoration of the Year (2011).
2011 - 2015 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
Luke’s next major project: a very rare 1935 Squire 4 seater. Rebuilt the body, including removing and gently repairing every section of the aluminium skin and working with its original ash frame.
2011 - 2014 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
A Ferrari 275 GTB came next for Luke. An all-steel body car where Luke completely rebuilt the chassis and outer panel work and removed and repaired the fibre glass floor and firewall.
2012 - 2014 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
An incredible opportunity to work with Ian Callum, then Head Designer for Jaguar, on his Jaguar Mk II project. This was a great privilege, with Luke bringing to life his vision for a remodelled and refreshed version of this classic.
2016 - 2017 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
Luke worked on the Pinin Farina bodied Jaguar XK120, rebuilding the metal work for this one-off prototype, which went on to win Octane’s International Historic Motoring Award’s Restoration of the Year (2017).
2015 - 2018 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
Worked to save as much of the original steel and aluminium outer panels of a Bugatti Type 55, carefully reassembling them over the very original ash frame.
Once again retaining the original material was key and conservation was very much favoured over replacement.
2018 - 2025 Coachworks Conversions
After several years perfecting personal campervan projects, Luke and wife, Beth, set up Coachworks Conversions.
Working part time alongside their day jobs, they begin to deliver campervan conversion projects, firstly for friends and family and then through personal recommendation.
The business grows steadily through word of mouth, even through the pandemic.
2019 - 2024 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
Restored Aston Martin’s Bulldog prototype, an extremely rare andinteresting car presenting unique challenges but, once again, it was essential to salvage the original metalwork and details of this one-off car.
2020 - 2023 Classic Motor Cars, Bridgnorth
Began work on Jaguar E-type, chassis number 8, a very early and important car. All of Luke’s work was conservation grade restoration, to maintain the provenance of the car.
2022 Coachworks Conversions
After several years of prototyping and testing, we offer our own campervan furniture range to customers, bringing beautiful and thoughtfully designed storage and services solutions to life on the road
2026 Luke Martin Coachworks is formed
CMC unfortunately closes its doors. Coachworks Conversions Ltd is renamed as Luke Martin Coachworks Ltd, as we expand to deliver both classic car restorations and campervan conversions.
"It was then that l discovered his level of talent, which to my mind was extraordinary."
“I first met Luke when he worked with me on my Mark 2 Jaguar.
He managed and sculpted all the bodywork changes. It was then that l discovered his level of talent, which to my mind was extraordinary.
He is not only a very skilled craftsman but a talented and creative designer in his own right with regards to his conversion works on recreational campers. The best I have seen on this type of vehicle. A real problem solver.
I am sure, like me, if you use Luke for any restoration work you will be more than satisfied with his quality of work.”
